ABOUT ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine ( TCM ) that has been practiced for centuries. It's based on the theory that energy, called Qi (say "chee"), flows through and around your body along pathways called meridians.

Acupuncturists believe that illness occurs when something blocks or unbalances your Qi. Acupuncture is a way to unblock or influence Qi and help it flow back into balance. According to Chinese medicine, it is said that needles help in stimulating the body's ability to repair and regenerate itself to react to an illness, rebalance the body and release endorphin (hormone released in the body to relieve pain).

HOW MANY SESSION WOULD I NEED?

  • The number of acupuncture sessions necessary to cure toe illness depends on the nature and severity of the illness.  As everyone is different and might react differently, as a rule of thumb I always say a minimum of 3 ( to start with ) up to 6 treatments especially for acute conditions. BUT it might be that you need less than that! For a chronic problem,  more than 6 treatments may be necessary. Remember Acupuncture works in a cumulative way, and of course, varies from patient to patient,  All of this will be be discuss together in order to make a treatment plan and see how we get along overtime throughout each treatment.

  • The effects of acupuncture are cumulative, so regular weekly follow-up appointments are recommended.

AURICULAR ACUPUNCTURE

Auricular Acupuncture is the stimulation of the auricle of the external ear for the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions in other parts of the body when the stimulation is achieved by the insertion of acupuncture needles. Specific points on the ear can also be stimulated by manual pressure, referred to as auricular acupressure using magnets, and ear sticky taped pellets.

Auricular acupuncture is a type of acupuncture that involves inserting needles into specific points on the ear. Stimulating these points is thought to promote healing in other areas of the body.

Auricular-acupuncture, is used on its own or often incorporated into standard acupuncture treatments. Although ear acupuncture is largely based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (a form of alternative medicine that originated in China), it was developed in the mid-20th century by French scientist Paul Nogier.
